925 Sterling Silver Valknut Hair & Beard Bead
The Valknut is a mysterious symbol consisting of three interlocked triangles, and is thought to be strongly tied to Odin. The name comes from Old Norse for "Knot" and "Slain Warrior", loosely meaning the "knot of those fallen in battle". It is thought that the Valknut was displayed at the burial sights of those who died in battle as a sign that they were to be taken to Valhalla.
This large solid hair bead has the Valknut across the front and back, as well as additional decoration on the sides.
This highly detailed bead is made in the UK from 925 Sterling Silver, hand cast using the traditional lost wax method. The bead is oxidised for deeper contrast showing a vast array of finishing details such as the rope design at the top and bottom of the bead, the triquetra knots encasing the symbol in an intertwined pattern and accentuating the patterned background that ties it all together.
As per UK trading regulations of precious metals, any sterling silver items over 7.78g arrived Hallmarked. We are registered with the Birmingham Assay Office.
