This Thor's hammer is hand made in the UK in fine English Pewter and is detailed with ravens and knotwork motifs.
The story of The Hammer comes from Scandinavian mythology, where Thor, the Mighty God of Thunder is the eldest son of Odin and the Goddess of the earth Jörð, was the defender of people and gods from evil monsters and giants. About 50 specimens of Mjölnir amulets have been found widely dispersed throughout Scandinavia, dating from the 9th to 11th centuries.
This skillfully hand made highly detailed Thor's Hammer pendant merges the Hammer design with a Raven skull and two further raven representations. The raven is a common iconic figure in Norse mythology. The highest god Odin had two ravens named Huginn and Muninn ("thought" and "memory" respectively) who flew around the world bringing back tidings to their master. Therefore, one of Odin's many names was the "ravengod" (Hrafnaguð).
Designed and hand made in fine English pewter (lead, cadmium & nickel compliant)
