Yggdrasill, or the tree of life is an immense tree that is in the centre of Azgard that stretches throughout the nine worlds and extends into the heavens. The are three roots of Yggdrasill, the first in Azgard, the second in Jotunheim (the land of the giants) and the third in Niflheim.
The tree of life is made of twisted copper wire set onto a large Lapis Lazuli gemstone and hangs on a beautiful copper chain. The intricate design pays homage to the reach of the Tree of Life through the nine worlds with the roots being represented in a swirly twisted detail.
Lazuli is a deep blue gemstone that has been prized for centuries for its striking color and historical significance. It's a metamorphic rock composed primarily of Lazurite, a blue mineral, often with inclusions of Pyrite, which gives it a characteristic golden sparkle.
In metaphysical practices, Lapis Lazuli is associated with wisdom, truth, and spiritual awareness. It is believed to enhance communication, intuition, and self-expression. Some believe it can also help calm the mind, alleviate stress, and promote inner peace.
While not as common as other gemstones like amber or garnet, evidence suggests that Lapis Lazuli was traded into Scandinavia during the Viking Age, the Vikings did use Lapis Lazuli. Although not as abundant as other gemstones in Viking archaeological sites, small amounts of Lapis Lazuli have been found in jewelry and other artifacts. This suggests that it was a valued and sought-after material. So, while not as prevalent as some other gemstones, Lapis Lazuli certainly played a role in Viking culture and society.
This is a handmade item using natural stones and hand wire wrapped so there may be slight variations from the images.
