Baldur's Lure Heavy Cotton T-Shirt
Baldur (pronounced “BALD-er;” Old Norse Baldr, Old English and Old High German Balder) is one of the Aesir gods. The main source of information we have on Balder comes from the Prose Edda and Poetic Edda. He’s the son of Odin and Frigg and the brother of Thor. He is the God of Light and Purity in Norse mythology. He’s loved by all the gods, goddesses, and beings of a more physical nature. So handsome, gracious, and cheerful is he that he actually gives off light.
Balder is so beautiful that even the most beautiful flowers bows before him, as he walks past them. Balder is also one of the wisest of the Aesir and is the most fairest-spoken and most gracious. When Frigg was told by Odin of Baldur’s prophesised demise, she went to every single thing in the cosmos and got an oath from them that they would not harm Balder, but she left out mistletoe as she thought such a small thing could not bring him any harm. Icelandic stories tell how the gods amused themselves by throwing objects at him, knowing that he was immune from harm. Loki found about Frigg’s one overlooked item and tricked Balder’s blind brother, Hodr, into throwing the mistletoe that killed Baldur.
