A bearded axe, or Skeggöx (from Old Norse Skegg, beard + öx, axe) refers to various axes, used as a tool and weapon, as early as the 6th century AD. It is most commonly associated with Viking Age Scandinavians.
The bearded axe in particular was a popular style. This weapon, named because the lower part of the head is flat instead of pointed, was a particularly devastating style due to fact that the broad, thin edge was backed by a thick body for resiliency. Such a weapon could strike hard against a man in armour, or compromise a shield with its sheer force.
The unique design of this axe makes it an amazing pendant as it is double sided and very detailed. One side depicts a wolf and the other depicts a revan so you could choose to wear it differently each day or showcasing your animal of choice, both of which are held in high regard in Norse Mythology. The stainless Steel pendant hangs on a real leather cord that fastens with a clasp.
