The Vegvisir (Icelandic Vegvísir, “That Which Shows the Way;” pronounced “VEGG-vee-seer”) is a symbol found only in one modern Icelandic collection of spells, the so-called Huld manuscript. That book has nothing more than this one sentence to say about it: “If this sign is carried, one will never lose one’s way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known.”
This large solid hair bead has the Vegvisir across the front and back, as well as additional decoration on the sides and a rope feature at the top and bottom. It his a highly detailed bead.
It is hand cast using the traditional lost wax process and hand finished. Cast in yellow bronze and oxidised for better contrast showing the details, it is made and finished in the UK. This is a beautiful and highly detailed hair bead.
