The Helm of Awe is a powerful protective symbol used by the Vikings for the purpose of protection from illness, and disease. In Norse mythology it is said that it is a symbol that was worn between the eyes that induces fear in your enemies, and to protect against the abuse of power.
The Helm of Awe is hand carved into the horn. The Helm of Awe may or May not be blackened with ink depending on the lower layer of the horn. If you have a preference for a horn with or without a painted inside of the carving, just let me know. If you do not specify, it will remain at the artistic discretion of our horn carving shieldmaiden.
This is a natural hand crafted product and there will be variation in size, shape and colour. The images show just a small selection of the variation in horns.

Horns are by-products of the meat industry. Our horns are salvaged from this so instead of going to waste, they are cleaned, reconditioned and turned into a beautiful vessel to start a new life. They're hand crafted of natural materials (ox or cow horn) so are likely to present some marks from the previous life or crafting process. None have a perfectly smooth finish by the very nature of the items. Each is handmade, beautiful and unique. All our horns are cleaned, sculpted and polished by our craftsman to a beautiful finish and are safe to drink from.
