Found in 1873 on the Hiddensee island, the treasure consisting of 16 pendants, a brooch and a neck ring, is the largest discovery of gold Viking artefacts in Germany.
It dates from the late Viking Age, c. 10th century. The pendants include both pagan and Christian symbols - Thor's Hammer and the cross - reflecting the mixing of the two cultures. It is believed that the jewellery may have originally belonged to the family of the Danish King Harald. Bluetooth
This Thor's Hammer is a full size replica of one of the Mjölnir pendants found in the treasure. It has been cast and hand finished in Scotland.
The pendant comes on a waxed black cord.
